Avid scooter fans hit the tarmac today in a spectacular display of skills and luck, drawing crowds of more than 50 students and teachers alike. When asked if he had any comments about this lunchtime activity, Reece Boyd said nothing but "Scooters are awesome." Tom Maidment, who was also participating commented that "Yeah, well, it keeps us out of trouble!" The scooter performance is new as of last week and is already drawing more and more spectators who's mouths open to fit a pineapple at such feats of skill. "It shows how much dedication to their hobbies students of TCS have and really shows the teachers how much they practise their skills," Alex Johnson, participant and spectator told us. Amidst all of the stunts, there was still room for school pride, with one spectator telling us 'Go TCS!!' This is yet another opportunity for the Year 7/8 students of TCS, with ramps and other scootering material. Do not miss this stunt show! Remember, its on Thursday lunchtime so bring your friends!

Though many questioned the fate of the new internet hub, today, it was revealed as a new force. Bailey Pellow, the editor claimed it is "Full of fanciness... Rumours are also spreading that an ANZAC day edition will be released on the day, and left for the next day, then taken down again. Released unofficially on the 15th of February, Bailey commented "This will be our best year yet, what with all the games." It has since been said that planning is in the pipeline for polls on the homepage, password lock for the games (You have to find the password on the news page FIRST) Write your OWN article, a NEW logo and webpage enhancements. Following this assembly, Bailey has set a benchmark of "At least 200 views, in two weeks."  It seems the future holds a lot more than meets the eye for Tahatai Times, what will we think of next..?

Tahatai Coast School has been awarded a fresh, new start for 2013 after an official opening on the 8th of February, by dignitaries such as the Honourable Tony Ryall, our local Member of Parliament, Mr. Ian Leckie, former Minister of Education and our current principal, Mr Andrew Hitchfield, Board of Trustees Chairperson. Folowing the speeches, Mr Ryall, along with Elijah Rurinui, cut the ribbon and officially opened Tahatai Coast School for the second time! This amazing new building features 3 Awhina/Shared spaces per floor, for students to work in. Each room features underfloor heating, for during the winter, and circulation fans to push fresh air in during the summer. They also feature a sound system with a convenient microphone for teachers use. Outside there is an astroturf, playground and a large sandpit. There are also numerous seating 'blocks' for varying purposes. Tahatai Coast School has never been better!
